A lightweight fight between Drew Dober and Rafael Alves has been announced for UFC 277 on July 30th at a destination still to be confirmed.
The 33-year-old Dober comes into the fight off a first round TKO victory over Terrance McKinney back in March.
Before that Dober had experienced a disappointing 2021 campaign, suffering two losses in a row, starting with a submission loss to Islam Makhachev that ended a three-fight winning streak, followed by a loss on the scorecards against Brad Riddell.
Overall that leaves Dober with a 10-7 (+1nc) record in the UFC as he heads into his next fight against the 31-year-old Rafael Alves, who joined the UFC from the Contender Series and lost his debut by decision to Damir Ismagulov, but turned things around nicely in his last fight with a fast submission finish against Marc Diakiese.
Dober vs. Alves joins a UFC 277 card that will feature an interim flyweight title fight between Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France, while the still developing card also features the likes of Derrick Lewis vs. Sergei Pavlovich, Luke Rockhold vs. Paulo Costa and Magomed Ankalaev vs. Anthony Smith.
