Jon Jones was critical of Israel Adesanya’s performance during a decision win over Jared Cannonier at UFc 276 this past weekend and it seems that Francis Ngannou isn’t happy about it.
“Bro I can’t stop thinking about this sh*t,” Jones had wrote after watching Adesanya call out his former kickboxing rival Alex Pereira following his decision win. “How are you going to threaten a guy like Alex with glossy fingernails and a frozen reference. I’m over here scratching my head.”
A few days later, heavyweight kingpin Ngannou has stepped in to stick up for his fellow African-born champion, Adesanya.
“Since Jones been sitting back and talking sh*t Izzy have defended his title a least 5 times,” Ngannou wrote on Twitter. “Well done CHAMP 🏆

True to form, Jones was quick to take the bait.
“Look at Francis over there defending Elsa, how cute,” Jones responded. “I could takeoff two more years and you guys work combined won’t match what I’ve done in that octagon. #Facts
“I’m really not impressed with you or your boy, I’ve seen you quit multiple times. And your boy almost got flat lined the last time he faced Alex. Both of you guys win your next fights, then I’ll be impressed. Until then, keep the name out of your mouth, there’s levels.”
Despite the apparent animosity between them, a heavyweight title clash between Ngannou and Jones has still yet to be booked, with ‘The Predator’ currently in limbo due to stalled contract negotiations while recovering from knee surgery, while ‘Bones’ had suggested on Saturday night that a fight with Stipe Miocic might be more likely for his heavyweight debut.
“At this point I’m looking to fight Stipe, I think it proves a lot more,” Jones told a fan on Twitter while simultaneously dissing Ngannou. “Fighting a fairly one-dimensional fighter fresh off of knee surgery. I don’t know, I believe beating Stipe says more at this point.”
