A welterweight fight between Kevin Holland and Daniel Rodriguez has been added to UFC 279 in Las Vegas on September 10th.
For the 29-year-old Holland the fight is a chance to try and build on his current 2-0 record since dropping down to welterweight earlier this year.
Along the way he’s picked up a TKO victory over Alex Oliveira, followed by a d’arce choke submission finish against Tim Means, helping him to put a prior spell of three fights without a win at middleweight firmly in his rear-view mirror.
As for Rodriguez, he has steadily compiled a 6-1 record during his time in the UFC and is currently riding a three-fight winning streak.
That run began with a unanimous decision win over Mike Perry, followed by a TKO stoppage of Preston Parsons and most recently a win on the scorecards against Kevin Lee.
That was a year ago though, so now Rodriguez returns with similar aspirations as his opponent Holland as they both attempt to put themselves in a position to break into the welterweight rankings in the near future.
Holland vs. Rodriguez joins a UFC 279 card that will certainly welcome another notable fight, with the current line-up being headlined by Khamzat Chimaev vs. Nate Diaz alongside the likes of Tony Ferguson vs. Li Jingliang and Johnny Walker vs. Ion Cutelaba.
