It looks like Darren Till will fight before the end of the year as it’s being reported that the UFC are looking to match him up against Driscus du Plessis at UFC 282 in Las Vegas on December 10th.
The 29-year-old Till would be returning after what at that stage would be a 14 month layoff due to injury setbacks as he attempts to get back on track after losing four of his last five fights.
Till had moved up to middleweight in 2019 after back-to-back losses against Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal broke his unbeaten record, and he did pick up a split decision win over Kelvin Gastelum in his divisional debut.
However, Till has since slumped to two more defeats against Robert Whittaker and Derek Brunson, though he still holds the No.9 spot on the middleweight rankings.
As for the 28-year-old Du Plessis, he’s made a strong start to his time in the UFC, racking up three wins in a row so far.
That run began with back-to-back knockout wins against Markus Perez and Trevin Giles, and he’s followed that up with a unanimous decision win against Brad Tavares in July to rise into the No.15 spot on the rankings.
If the contracts are officially signed then Till vs Du Plessis will join a UFC 282 card that’s expected to be headlined by a light-heavyweight title rematch between Jiri Prochazka and Glover Teixeira, while Robbie Lawler vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio will also be on the line-up.
