A featherweight fight between Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen has been targeted to headline the UFC Fight Night 213 event in Las Vegas on October 29th.
Kattar is currently ranked No.5 in the division, though he has lost two of his last three fights at the top-end of the weight class, each of which has ended up with ‘Fight of The Night’ honors.
That spell began with a unanimous decision loss to former champion Max Holloway in January of last year, but he rebounded a year later by ending Giga Chikadze’s seven fight winning streak via decision.
A fight with Josh Emmett back in June followed and he only narrowly lost by split decision on that occasion, so he still remains a big player in the 145lb division, holding an overall UFC record of 7-4.
Meanwhile, Allen has risen up to No.6 in the rankings after a very impressive UFC run that’s seen him slowly but surely rack up a nine-fight winning streak over the past seven years.
Along the way he’s racked up wins over a steadily rising level of competition, leading to wins over the likes of Gilbert Melendez, Nik Lentz, Sodiq Yusuff and most recently his most memorable performance to date, coming out with all guns blazing to stop Dan Hooker by TKO in the first round.
Kattar vs. Allen will top a UFC Fight Night 213 card that will also feature the likes of Edson Barboza vs. Ilia Topuria, Andrei Arlovski vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima and Khalil Rountree Jr vs. Dustin Jacoby.
