Fast forward to May 2015, Mayweather vs Pacquaio. The rise of the two feather/light/welterweight fighters in the past decade naturally had fans and promoters alike wanting to put the two into the same ring. First negotiation commenced in Dec 2009, 5 ½ years before the eventual fight. The two were in constant negotiation war, with issues from the details of drug testing to purse division. Lots of names were called and over the course of the next years, whether intentional or not, the two champion fighters and their posse never seem to be able to see eye to eye.
In the end, the longer the process was dragged out, the more people became desperate to see the two of them finally engage in a real fist fight. Mayweather was a little like Foreman, the favourite due to his undefeated status. On the other hand, Pacquaio who is practically the second most important man in the Philippines next to Jesus Christ himself is akin to Ali, the fighter who has the heart of all. Alas, end result was far from Rumble in the Jungle, the real thing in this instance was not quite as exciting as the anticipation.
