Excuses
First off, Barao has made too many excuses following his May loss to Dillashaw. He said that the early overhand right from Dillashaw left him fighting on autopilot, making him not himself. But the fact remains that Dillashaw threw the massive shot, therefore making him responsible for Barao’s ineffectiveness.
He also said that he wasn’t ready for the fight after taking it on short notice when Vitor Belfort was forced out of his title fight against Chris Weidman after testosterone-replacement therapy (TRT) was banned in late February.
Barao also said he injured himself close to the fight and couldn’t train how he wanted to.
At the end of the day, Barao is going to have to put the excuses away and just get the job done in the cage. Judging from Dillashaw’s remarkable performance in the first fight, he’s fighting quite the uphill battle.
