Martial Arts and their Headline Action Stars

The World of Wrestling

Known by its many names and titles, from World Champion Wrestling (WCW) to World Wrestling Federation (WWF), or since May 2002 possibly the most appropriate name came up as “World Wrestling Entertainment” (WWE) had produced for the world many wrestlers and entertainers. The two champions that had both noteworthy wrestling titles and Hollywood fame would be Terry Gene Bollea, better known by his ring name Hulk Hogan, and Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock.

Hulk Hogan’s two most significant titles in his sport would be his 6 times title holder of WCW and WWF World Heavyweight Championship. Unlike other martial arts, in these federations of Wrestling, entertainment value gives the athletes a real edge. It had since scored Hulk Hogan countless roles in movies and TV series. Yet it is almost like 100 times the bridesmaid, never the bride. Despite his unrelenting effort as late as 2014 wanting a role in the ‘Expendables 3’, Hulk Hogan never quite made it to the lead role in a block buster.

The Rock, on the other hand, with a string of World Champion titles behind his name had took on many lead and significant supporting roles in Hollywood, including the Fast and Furious series. His most recent lead role, very aptly so ‘Hercules’ grossed $29 million on its opening weekend. Not a bad way at all to exit from his wrestling career.
