Jose Aldo On Chad Mendes: 'I Don't See Anything Different In Him ...

Number 3: Jose Aldo

Former WEC featherweight champion and current UFC featherweight champion, José ‘Scarface’ Aldo is 21-1 in his MMA career. The Brazilian powerhouse’s only loss was way back in 2005, since then he has fought the best of the best at featherweight and always rained supreme. A former soccer player, Aldo is known for his brutal leg kicks, by far the most powerful at 145. He executes vicious combinations of punches and kicks with supreme artistry and an effortless flow, flying knees, head kicks and elbows are all part of his arsenal and to this date he is unmatched by any striker in the UFC’s lower weight classes.

He has also taken on the best wrestlers in the UFC’s featherweight division including Chad Mendes and Frankie Edgar, showing exquisite takedown defence and an uncanny ability to get back to his feet. Those that wish to avoid the striking game of Aldo will find no comfort even if they do manage to put him on his back. He is a BJJ black belt who utilises his technique defensively to shut down all submission attempts on the ground.

The one criticism of Aldo’s UFC career has been his cardio, he is known to tire in the later rounds, possibly as a result of his huge weight cut. In the future this may his undoing, but the Brazilian has passed all tests to date. Next up he will take on the Surging Irishman Conor McGregor at UFC 189 on July 11th.
