Bellator 183 took place last night and you can see all the results below.
Ben Henderson returned to action looking to get back to winning ways in the headliner, but it didn’t happen in a relatively uneventful fight with Patricky Freire.
Henderson had attempted to grind out a victory, but Freire edged the sporadic striking exchanges and the former UFC lightweight champions attempts to take down Freire didn’t pay off and left him stalling against the cage with little to show for it.
Still, Henderson may have felt he had done enough to just sneak to victory, but two of the three judges disagreed, handing Freire a split decision win (29-28 x2, 28-29).
In the co-main event of the evening, Paul Daley emerged victorious against Lorenz Larkin by way of strikes in the second round.
Daley didn’t have it all his own way though as it was Larkin who had been edging the action for much of the fight, but mid-way through the second round he threw a spinning backfist and then followed up with two big left-hooks that sent his opponent to the canvas and ended the fight.
Earlier in the evening, Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson got his Bellator career off to a winning start with a unanimous decision victory over Jay Ayala.
Switching up his strategy from the latter days of his UFC run, Nelson looked for takedowns in the fight and that enabled him to control Ayala on the mat and land the ground and pound strikes which would secure him a win on the cards (30-26, 29-28 x2).
Meanwhile, major prospect Aaron Pico made up for a disastrous debut by highlight reel KO’ing his opponent Justin Linn with a stunning left hook in the opening round of their main card fight.
