Bellator 185 Results: Mousasi Survives Debut But Heather Hardy Is Beaten

Bellator 185 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.

In the main event of the evening Gegard Mousasi made his Bellator against Alexander Shlemenko, and it proved to be a tough fight for the former UFC star.

Former middleweight champion Shlemenko busted up Mousasi’s right eye in the opening round, meaning the star was essentially operating with one eye and so he quickly switched things up by taking his opponent to the mat to stay in control for the remainder of the round.

Mousasi tried to implement the same strategy in the second round, but wasn’t as successful at first, though he did finally get Shlemenko down and was unsuccessful with a rear-naked choke attempt.

In the third, Shlemenko came on strong in the striking department and even had Mousasi down, but couldn’t find a way to finish him and so it was down to the judges to decide who won, and though some thought the Russian should have got the nod, Mousasi emerged with a unanimous decision victory (29-28 x3).

Earlier Neiman Gracie had secured a neck crank submission against Zak Bucia, but the other major talking point of the show was undefeated boxing star turned MMA fighter Heather Hardy’s bloody battle with Kristina Williams.

Williams more than matched Hardy in the early striking exchanges, and left her bleeding from the nose and mouth after landing cleanly with head kicks.

In the second round Williams was again getting the better of the action, and then unleashed another perfectly placed head kick that left Hardy’s wobbled with blood pouring from her nose, which soon led to a doctor’s stoppage, handing the underdog a convincing TKO victory.
