Bellator 224 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.
In the main event of the evening a new Bellator light-heavyweight champion was crowned after Vadim Nemkov ended Ryan Bader’s eight-fight unbeaten run.
Bader found himself being outgunned by Nemkov’s potent offense during the fight, and that took a big toll on him in the second round when punches set up a head kick that sent him to the canvas for the first time.
Nemkov unleashed some ferocious ground and pound strikes on the mat, but the referee didn’t intervene and Bader somehow struggled to his feet, only to be sent back down again by a big right hand.
Again Nemkov landed heavy punches on top and again the ref hesitated to intervene, which led to Bader struggling back upright one last time, but he was still dazed as he tried to move away from danger and another blow sent him down for the third and final time for a TKO stoppage at 3.02mins of the second round to end his reign as a two-division champion.
Meanwhile, in the co-main event, Julia Budd got back to winning ways after losing her featherweight title to Cris ‘Cyborg’ last time out.
This time she was up against Jessy Miele and was able to use her grappling advantage to earn a unanimous decision victory.
Elswhere, Roy Nelson suffered his fifth loss in a row after coming out on the wrong end of a unanimous decision verdict against Valentin Moldavsky, while John Salter secured his eighth win in nine Bellator fights so far with a first round arm-triangle choke finish against Andrew Kapel.
