A lightweight title fight has been added to the Bellator: NYC pay-per-view event at Madison Square Garden on June 24th, as current champion Michael Chandler faces off against Brent Primus.
Chandler is riding a wave of momentum at the moment, having notched up four wins in a row, culminating with the biggest win of his career last time out when he earned a split decision victory over former UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson.
As for Primus, he is currently unbeaten in his MMA career, holding a perfect 7-0 record that includes five victories in the Bellator cage.
This is a huge step up in competition for Primus however, with his biggest win up to this point coming over another Bellator veteran, Derek Anderson.
News of Chandler Vs Primus being added to the main card of the show emerges as the promotion also clarified that the pay-per-view portion of the card will be branded as Bellator: NYC, while the prelims on Spike TV will be marketed separately as Bellator 180.
So far the Bellator: NYC has a line-up that’s headlined by a grudge match between former UFC stars Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva, while Russian heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko fights Matt Mitrione in the co-main event.
