Bellator 208 took place last night in New York and you can see all the results below.
In the main event of the evening, Fedor Emelianenko emerged with a TKO victory over Chael Sonnen late in the first round.
The fight started badly for Sonnen who was floored by one of Fedor’s first punches, but picked himself back up only to be caught for a second time and put back to the canvas. When he rose again Sonnen was looking to clinch and get a takedown at all costs, but Fedor threw him down with a sambo throw.
Sonnen doggedly stuck to his task despite being outgunned and manhandled and as the round progressed did manage to get Fedor down, but never for long and back on the feet he was dropped again.
In the final stages of the round there was a scramble on the mat and Fedor emerged on top and blasted Sonnen with heavy ground and pound that left him covered up in a ball, leading the referee to hand ‘The Last Emperor’ a TKO victory with 14 seconds of the round remaining to book his spot in the heavyweight grand-prix final opposite Ryan Bader.
In the co-main event Ben Henderson outworked Saad Awad with superior grappling to earn a convincing unanimous decision victory, while prior to that Chieck Kongo knocked out Timothy Johnson in just 68 seconds.
