UFC 153: Fight Card

The fight card for this weekend’s UFC 153 event in Rio, Brazil looks a lot different from the original one that was supposed to have Jose Aldo Vs Erik Koch in the main event, so let’s take a look and see how it shapes up now.

Headlining the show now is a light-heavyweight bout that sees Anderson Silva step up from the comfort of the middleweight division that he rules with an iron fist in order to take on Stephan Bonnar who’s had a resurgence of late, going on a three-fight unbeaten run.

Joining that somewhat unlikely pairing in the co-main event is another Brazilian hero Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira who returns to the Octagon for the first time the broken he suffered against Frank Mir to take on Dave Herman.

The man that half the division seems strangely hesitant to fight, Glover Teixeira faces a late replacement in the shape of the hard-hitting Fabio Maldanado after Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson pulled out injured.

An intriguing welterweight clash between Jon Fitch and up and coming star Erick Silva is one of the other highlights on the six-fight main card, that also sees Damien Maia’s latest fight at 170lbs against Rick Story and a re-arranged bout between light-heavyweight’s Phil Davis and Wagner Prado after their first bout ended prematurely due to an eye-poke.
