UFC On FOX 4: Fight Card

The fourth live UFC event on FOX takes place this coming Saturday night in Los Angeles and for the first time there’s four fights on the main televised card to look forward to.

The headliner sees former light-heavyweight champion Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua aiming to put the disappointment of losses to Jon Jones and Dan Henderson behind him as he takes on Brandon Vera who could give his career a huge shot in the arm if he can pull of an upset win.

The stakes have been raised even further for ‘Shogun’ after Dana White stated last week that a win for him could well set him up for another shot at the 205lb title.

However, White made it clear he has to not only win, but perform impressively. Otherwise, the co-main event feature between Lyoto Machida and Ryan Bader could produce the next No.1 contender assuming that either of these two fighters can seize the moment and produce a spectacular victory.

Outside of that 205lb quartet there’s also a lightweight scrap between Joe Lauzon and Jamie Varner to look forward to, with Lauzon attempting to rebound from a KO loss to Anthony Pettis earlier in the year, while Varner will hope to continue the momentum from an upset win over Edson Barboza.

Finally, the opening fight on the main card sees the UFC welcoming back Mike Swick to the Octagon after a two year absence due to illness and injury. Swick will aim to re-establish himself as a major player at 170lbs by taking out former TUF finalist DaMarques Johnson.
