135lb Champ Dominick Cruz Out For A Further 6-9 Months For 2nd ACL Operation

Bad news emerged from Dominick Cruz’s camp today. The UFC bantamweight champion is set to be sidelined for another 6-9 months after discovering that he’ll need to undergo a second operation on his ACL.

Cruz has already spent well over a year out of the Octagon after damaging his ACL while in the middle of filming “TUF: Live” back in May which kept him out of a title defense against fellow Ultimate Fighter coach Urijah Faber.

Now it turns out that his body has rejected the cadavar ACL that was implanted during the initial surgery to fix the problem, and so he’ll have to go under the knife again.

‘The Dominator’ has always been injury prone and it’s very unfortunate as he’s a unique talent and at the age of 27 he should be enjoying the prime of his careerĀ  instead of just sitting on the sidelines.

In the mean time the 135lb division must go on though. Renan Barao has already been crowned the interim champ after defeating Faber earlier in the year, and while he was keen to sit out and wait for Cruz to return, he’ll now sure to be forced into action, more than likely against Michael McDonald.
