Dana White has announced that two former light-heavyweight title challengers, Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira, will fight in the main event of UFC Fight Night 69 in Germany on June 20th.
For Gustafsson this will be his first fight back since an opening round TKO loss to Anthony Johnson at UFC On FOX 14 back in January.
That was a tough loss for the 28 year-old on a numbers of levels, having taken place in front of his home fans in a stadium in Stockholm, Sweden while also resulting in his hopes for a rematch with current champion Jon Jones being derailed, at least for the time being.
Teixeira also had an unsuccessful attempt at taking Jones’ title last year which brought an end to a long unbeaten run for the Brazilian, and then last October at UFC 179 he slipped up again with Phil Davis comfortably defeating him by decision.
Despite their recent form these two 205lb’ers are still considered to be amongst the best the division has to offer with Gustafsson officially ranked at No.2 while Teixeira takes the No.6 spot.
Gustafsson Vs Teixeira is so far the only fight announced for the event in Berlin which will air exclusively on the UFC’s Fight Pass internet subscription service.
