Alistair Overeem quickly got the better of Stefan Struve tonight at UFC On FOX 13, taking him down and landing ground and pound for the TKO stoppage.

Round One:

Crazy size difference between the lanky Struve and Overeem. Overeem keeping his distance to start this one off. He suddenly goes in for takedown, then opts to stay in the clinch instead, pushing Struve against the cage, but Struve gets away.

Struve with a front kick and Overeem backs up. Overhand right from Overeem. Overeem barrels in on a takedown attempt and spins his opponent around to land it with over three minutes of the round remaining.

Struve moving up his legs looking for a potential submission attempt, but Overeem gets a couple of hard shots off from guard. Struve lands a nice left hand from his back.

Struve uses his long legs to push Overeem away, but doesn’t get up. Overeem hovering over him, but not going back into guard and the crowd gets restless. Eventually Overeem does go back down again. Not for long, he backs up again.

He decides to try again and starts to unleash some big ground and pound. Struve looks dazed and a few more blows is all it takes to appear to switch Struve’s lights out – Overeem has won by KO and in the process probably saved his spot on the UFC roster.
