A bantamweight bout between Aljamain Sterling and Raphael Assuncao has been announced for UFC Fight Night 102, which will take place on Friday, December 9th in Albany, New York.
Sterling raised his profile earlier this year when he decided to test his worth on the open market when his UFC contract came to an end after having compiled a four-fight winning streak in the promotion.
In the end, Sterling opted to sign a new deal with the UFC, but he then came unstuck in his next fight, coming out on the wrong end of a split decision against Bryan Caraway at UFC Fight Night 88.
He’ll now look to rebound from that, but faces another tough opponent in Assuncao, who was up until recently on a seven fight unbeaten stretch in the Octagon, which included a win over the aforementioned Caraway.
That led to Assuncao being matched up with former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw at UFC 200, which finally snapped his winning streak, losing out by unanimous decision.
So, this looks like a challenging match-up for both men at they attempt to get back to winning ways, making it an intriguing addition to the UFC Fight Night 102 card, which also is expected to feature promising heavyweight prospect Francis Ngannou Vs Anthony Hamilton.
