Anderson Silva Opts Not To Retire After UFC Release

There was a lot of talk that Anderson Silva was set to retire after his loss to Uriah Hall in the Octagon recently, but despite now being released from his UFC contract it seems that the legendary Brazilian star has other plans.

“Hey everyone…
I didn’t want to talk about this subject, especially because I’m on vacation and as the saying goes, “a deal is a deal,”
Silva wrote on Instagram.

“I’ll make it clear to all my fans that this is a moment of joy and gratitude!!!
I feel free, after an attempt to force my retirement!

“I love and have always loved what I do, winning and losing are a part of it, it has absolutely nothing to do with age, I made technical mistakes and lost, but I didn’t lose what’s most important, the will and the desire to continue doing what I love, I still have the warrior spirit and that burning flame in my heart that motivates me, I have total belief that I can continue to compete in the elite of MMA.

I take this moment to reflect about my career and to plan my next moves… Stay Tuned!!!”

Clearly Dana White was eager to see Silva retire and that’s why he was released from the promotion, and he’s not the only one as many observers feel that the legendary fighter should hang up his gloves after losing eight of his last nine fights.

That includes Bellator boss Scott Coker, who recently ruled out making Silva an offer, while PFL’s Ray Sefo has now also followed suit, leaving ‘The Spider’ with limited options available to him in the U.S. as far as high-profile organizations go, though it’s possible that promotions like Rizin or ONE FC in Asia may be more receptive to the idea.
