Heavyweight veteran Andrei Arlovski has stepped in as a late replacement to fight Chase Sherman at UFC On ESPN 22 in a little over a weeks time after Parker Porter was forced to withdraw for undisclosed reasons.
Arlovski will be looking to rebound from the disappointment of being submitted by Tom Aspinall in his last Octagon outing back in February.
That loss ended a two-fight winning streak for the 42-year-old Arlovski, who had picked up unanimous decision wins against both Philipe lins and Tanner Boser.
Overall though, Arlovski’s form has been patchy at best during the past three years, having gone 4-5 (+1nc) during that period.
As for Sherman, he was released from the UFC back in 2018 after losing three fights in a row, but three TKO victories in a row for the Island Fights promotion led to him being welcomed back into the fold, and he continued that streak in May of last year when he TKO’d Isaac Villaneuva in the second round.
Arlovski vs. Sherman goes down at a UFC On ESPN 22 event that will be fronted by a middleweight fight between Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum, with Jeremy Stephens and Drakkar Klose also having been scheduled for the same card.
