A heavyweight rematch between Andrei Arlovski and Ben Rothwell has been scheduled for UFC On ESPN 4 in San Antonio, Texas on July 20th.
The two stars last fought all the way back at Affliction: Banned in 2008, with Arlovski emerging victorious with a third round KO victory on that occasion.
Some nine years later they will now clash again at a time when Arlovski is in the midst of a four-fight run without a victory in the Octagon.
That began with unanimous decision losses to Tai Tuivasa and Shamil Abdurakhimov. He then dropped a split decision against Walt Harris that was later amended to a no-contest after his opponent flagged for a PED, while in his latest outing, ‘The Pitbull’ again came out on the wrong end of a split decision verdict against Augusto Sakai.
Meanwhile, Rothwell is coming off back-to-back losses. However, in his case, the first of those defeats came against Junior dos Santos back in 2016 by way of decision.
Rothwell then failed a drug test and was suspended for two years, with his comeback fight eventually taking place against Blagoy Ivanov in March of this year, resulting in another decision loss.
Arlovski Vs Rothwell joins a UFC On ESPN 4 card that doesn’t yet have a headliner, but also includes the likes of Walt Harris Vs Aleksei Oleinik and Liz Carmouche Vs Roxanne Modafferi.
