A heavyweight encounter between Andrei Arlovski and Tai Tuivasa has been added to the UFC 225 line-up on June 9th in Chicago.
The 39-year-old Arlovski is currently riding back-to-back victories in the Octagon, having earned unanimous decision victories over both Junior Albini and Stefan Struve in the past six months.
Thats helped put a dismal spell behind him in which he suffered five defeats in a row during a 13 month period, including three by TKO.
If Arlovski were to emerge victorious at UFC 225 then he would beat out Frank Mir to claim the record for the most wins in UFC heavyweight history.
To do so he’ll have to defeat an up-and-coming heavyweight from Australia in Tuivasa, who has so far compiled a 7-0 record in his MMA career.
Two of those victories have come inside the Octagon so far, with Rashad Coulter being KO’d by a first round knee strike, while Cyril Asker was also stopped inside of a round by TKO back in February.
Arlovski vs Tuivasa joins a UFC 225 card that will be headlined by a middleweight title rematch between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero, while Claudia Gadelha fights Carla Esparza, Alistair Overeem goes up against Curtis Blaydes and Rashad Evans moves back up to 205lbs to lock horns with Anthony Smith.
