With Chael Sonnen now schedule to coach TUF 17 opposite Jon Jones, his originally scheduled opponent Forrest Griffin is in need of a new opponent at UFC 155.
Dana White has already confirmed that Griffin will remain in the co-main event berth for the December 29th card and said on Tuesday that they did have a potential opponent in mind, though nothing had been signed yet.
There’s a few possible opponents for him, but the one man who’s campaigning hardest to be given the opportunity is Antonio Rogerio Nogueira who was originally supposed to fight Griffin back in the summer of 2010 before an injury forced it to be scrapped.
“@danawhite I’m 100% and training again. Put me in against @forrestgriffin on UFC 155! This fight was scheduled once, let’s do it now!” Lil Nog wrote on Twitter yesterday.
Griffin is coming off a rubber match victory over Tito Ortiz at UFC 148 in July, while coincidentally Nogueira’s last trip to the Octagon also ended with a win over the now retired former light-heavyweight champion in December of last year.
