Friday night’s Bellator 115 event was watched by an average of 830,000 viewers on Spike TV.
That’s a very good number for the promotion, well above their average audience for a Friday night show and only 50,000 viewer off their best rating so far this season which came for the season premiere headlined by Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.
It’s particularly good going considering that the show took a big hit to it’s main card just days before the event with both a welterweight and middleweight tournament fight having to be scrapped.
That left only one major fight, but it seems that the lure of former UFC fighter Cheick Kongo competing for the heavyweight title against Vitaly Minakov was still enough to draw a crowd.
However, if viewers did tune in specifically to watch that fight they have left disappointed as it was far from a barnburner and Kongo underperformed en-route to a unanimous decision loss.
If the lure of former UFC fighters competing is helping Bellator’s ratings then this coming Friday night’s show could serve them well as it features main card bouts with the likes of Lavar Johnson, Joey Beltran and Vladimir Matyushenko who’ll be undertaking his final fight before retirement.
