Bellator 170 Results: Tito Ortiz Defeats Chael Sonnen

Bellator 170 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.

In the main event of the evening, Tito Ortiz finished Chael Sonnen barely two minutes into the fight to end his career on a high.

After an early striking exchange, Ortiz had opted to go for a single leg takedown and landed it, but Sonnen was slickly able to execute a reversal to end up on top and began working on a d’arce choke.

Unable to fully lock up the submission, Sonnen dropped back with a guillotine choke instead, but Ortiz stayed calm and was able to get his head free, leaving him in an advantageous position on top.

Ortiz quickly moved to full mount and landed a few solid elbows down on Sonnen’s face, which caused him to give up his back, giving the former UFC hall-of-famer an opportunity to tap him out with a rear-naked choke at 2.03mins of the first round.

Afterwards, Ortiz did his traditional ‘Grave Digger’ celebration one last time and then had his son leave his gloves in the center of the cage, signalling that the 41-year old’s career is finally at an end.

Earlier, in the co-main event, Paul Daley delivered a finish that will surely be a contender for 2017’s ‘Knockout Of The Year’ against Brennan Ward.

Ward was able to get Daley down early in the fight, but after using the cage to get back to his feet, the striker suddenly unleashed a spinning back elbow that staggered Ward back a few paces.

Daley then charged forward and landed a perfectly placed jumping knee to the head that knocked Ward out cold at 2.27mins to hand ‘Semtex’ a stunning addition to his highlight-reel.
