Bellator 222 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.
In the main event of the evening, Rory MacDonald successfully defended his welterweight title and progressed to the final of the welterweight grand-prix with a unanimous decision victory over Neiman Gracie.
It was an intriguing battle as though MacDonald was getting the better of the striking battle, he also showed a willingness to compete with the BJJ ace on the mat too, and for the most part acquitted himself well, and though Gracie did have his moments with submission attempts, he wasn’t able to catch out the champion.
Meanwhile, in the co-main event, Lyoto Machida convincingly earned a TKO victory over Chael Sonnen, flooring him with a flying knee in the first round and then doing it again early in the second round as his opponent ducked in for a takedown, setting up a ground and pound TKO finish.
Elswhere on the main card, Conor McGregor’s BJJ coach Dillon Danis showed off his submission skills with a first round armbar finish against Max Humphrey, while Kyoji Horiguchi battled his way to a unanimous decision victory over Darrion Caldwell to win the bantamweight title.
