Bellator 238 Results

Bellator 238 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.

In the main event of the evening, Cris Cyborg became Bellator’s new women’s featherweight champion with a TKO victory over Julia Budd.

Cyborg was ferocious in attack from the opening round and Budd seemed a little overwhelmed, but was throwing back when she could and was able to find some respite in the clinch at times. She attempted to capitalize on a Cyborg slip to get on top, but then found herself fighting off a triangle choke and armbar attempt before they got back to the feet, and Cyborg would then drop her with a right hand before the end of the round.

Even by the second round there was a sense that the exertion of trying to keep Cyborg at bay was already starting on the champion’s cardio, and meanwhile the Brazilian was marauding forward throwing big power shots.

The third Cyborg’s dominance was growing and after controlling much of the round on the mat she’d get full mount with just seconds remaining and blasted Budd with heavy ground and pound.

Sensing a finish was close, Cyborg came out with all guns blazing in the fourth round and unleashed a series of strikes against the cage, before a body shot finally crumpled Budd to the mat for the TKO finish at the 1.14minute mark.

In the co-main event Darrion Caldwell took just 2.20mins to book his spot in the Bellator featherweight world grand-prix semi-finals with a rear-naked choke submission win over Adam Borics, while Sergio Pettis had a successful debut as he produced a first round guillotine choke finish against Alfred Khashakyan and in the prelims Aaron Pico got back in the win column with a KO finish against Daniel Carey.
