A main card heavyweight match-up between Ben Rothwell and Phillipe Lins has been pulled from this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 187 event in Las Vegas.
An injury is believed to behind the cancellation, though at this stage it’s not clear which fighter suffered it. At this stage the UFC’s plan appears to be to push the bout back until a a later date.
Rothwell had been heading into the fight looking to bounce back from a decision loss to Marcin Tybura in October that had ended his two-fight winning streak, while Lins was coming off back-to-back defeats against Andrei Arlovski and Tanner Boser.
Meanwhile, another hit to this weekend’s card has come in the form of Zubaira Tukhugov pulling out of his preliminary card fight against Ricardo Ramos due to an undisclosed injury.
UFC officials haven’t been able to come up with a suitable replacement to keep Ramos on the card and so he’s been removed from it entirely and will now required a new match-up at a later date.
With those bouts having fallen through, the UFC Fight Night 187 event now proceeds with a six-fight main card headlined by Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad in addition to a further seven bouts on the undercard.
