Bobby Green has been forced to pull out of his recently announced lightweight fight with Jorge Masvidal in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 63 In Fairfax, Virginia on April 4th.
Turn that frown upside down though as stepping in to replace Green will be former lightweight champion Ben Henderson who’s just days removed from a somewhat controversial split decision loss to Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 59.
As unkind as that decision may have been to him, the fact remains that “Smooth” has now suffered two losses in a row and so he may be glad that he’s getting another relatively quick opportunity to get back into the win column before he slides out of the top 5 rankings.
He faces another tough opponent in Masvidal though, with ‘Gamebred’ currently riding a three-fight winning streak and possessing the skills to make this a competitive match-up that could potentially pave his way to a top 10 spot if he emerges victorious.
This change in opponent strengthens rather than weakens the UFC Fight Night 63 line-up which will be headlined by a featherweight match-up between Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas, while Dustin Poirier moves up to 155lbs to take on Carlos Deigo Ferreira elsewhere on the main card.
