Bobby Green Pulls Out Of Fight With Al Iaquinta In July

Bobby Green has pulled out of an upcoming fight with Al Iaquinta at UFC Fight Night 71 on July 15th after suffering an injury during his training camp.

The fight had been expected to take place on the main card of the fight in San Diego and with Green currently ranked No.11 and Iaquinta No.13 the winner could have had a chance of pushing into the division’s top 10.

At this stage it’s not clear whether Iaquinta will remain on the card or not, but with there still being a month to go until the event it seems likely that will be the case.

If so, Iaquinta has indicated that he’d be interested in fighting either Gilbert Melendez, Dustin Poirier or Efrain Escudero.

Those all sound like solid replacements, particularly the first two with Melendez likely keen to get right back on the horse after losing to Eddie Alvarez despite appearing to be in the driving seat after the first round, while Poirier has impressed with back-to-back wins since moving up to lightweight and may relish the opportunity to go up against a ranked opponent next.

For his part, Iaquinta is currently on a four-fight winning streak in the division, though after three definitive TKO victories the result of his last fight was less cut and dried, claiming a split decision win over Jorge Masvidal in April.
