Carlos Condit Vs Martin Kampmann Headlines UFC On FOX Sports 1’s Second Show

So far a lot of attention is being drawn towards the first ‘UFC On FOX Sports 1’ event on the channel’s launch night on August 17th, but there are other shows planned for the network during it’s first month in operation and the headliner for one has just been announced.

A welterweight clash between two of the division’s best, Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann will serve as the main event for ‘UFC On FOX Sports 1 #2’ (yep, these event names are going to get confusing!) on August 28th.

Condit is coming off back-to-back losses against the two top-ranked fighters in the division at this moment in time, GSP and Johny Hendricks, losing out by unanimous decision on both occasions.

He had the champion in serious trouble at one stage after rocking him with a head kick though and his bout with Hendricks was far closer than the result suggests so the defeats haven’t damaged his status at 170lbs, and in fact he’s currently still officially ranked as the No.2 contender.

Meanwhile, Kampmann suffered a KO loss to Hendricks last time out which derailed a three-fight unbeaten run and that leaves him ranked at No.7 in the division.

Condit has faced Kampmann before in his UFC debut where he lost out by the narrowest of split decision’s, so this rematch some four years later does seem like a good idea.

It should be noted that this will take place on a Wednesday which is going to be a familar occurence on the channel as they look to establish that as the UFC’s flagship night each week.
