Carlos Condit vs. Matt Brown In The Works For UFC Fight Night 188

A clash of welterweight veteran stars Carlos Condit and Matt Brown has been scheduled for UFC Fight Night 188 on January 30th at a destination still to be confirmed.

In some respects its surprising that these two haven’t fought before now, but the UFC have in fact attempted to make the match-up twice in the past, but it’s fallen through on each occasion due to injuries.

More recently both men have flirted with thoughts of retirement, but haven’t been able to fully commit to it so far. The 36-year-old Condit did take the best part of two years off after suffering a five-fight losing streak, but the former title contender returned in early October and got back to winning ways with a solid decision victory over Court McGee.

Meanwhile, the 39-year-old Brown also had a two year layoff from November of 2017 to December of 2019, but succesfully returned with a TKO victory against Ben Saunders late last year.

Brown has since suffered a second round TKO loss against Miguel Baeza though, which does leave doubts about whether he’d opt to continue competing if he doesn’t emerge with a victory against ‘The Natural Born Killer.’

Condit vs. Brown is the highest profile bout announced so far for the UFC Fight Night 188 card, which will also feature Roxanne Modafferi vs. Viviane Arujo.
