Carlos Condit Vs Matt Brown Official For UFC On FOX 9

Expect welterweight fireworks on December 14th as Carlos Condit Vs Matt Brown has been made official for the main card at UFC On FOX 9.

The UFC had originally been planning to put Brown up against Strikeforce champion Tarec Saffiedine, but have now opted to go for Condit Vs Brown instead, and why not as it’s a great match-up.

Condit looked in great form last time out against Martin Kampmann, claiming a fourth round TKO victory and his only two losses in the past four years have come against the current top two fighters in the division, GSP and Johny Hendricks so it’s no surprise that he’s currently ranked as the No.2 contender in the division.

Meanwhile, Brown is currently in the form of his life, stringing together a terrific six fight unbeaten run, with only one of those fights going the distance.

He’s proven to be the man for the big occasion as he’s claimed two big wins on previous FOX cards, along with a first round KO victory at the ‘UFC On FOX Sports 1’ event last month, so he’ll be relishing the opportunity to have his biggest fight to date live on TV again.

UFC On FOX 9 was already looking like a stand-out show before this fight was announced, and it’s now so stacked that it’s unclear exactly which fights will end up with a main card spot.

What we do know for sure is that a lightweight title fight between Anthony Pettis and Josh Thomson will headline the show, while Urijah Faber Vs Michael McDonald will also be on-board, and Condit Vs Brown is a certainty too.

I’m anticipating that Chad Mendes Vs Nick Lentz will probably get the final spot on the FOX main card, with Scott Jorgensen Vs Ian McCall and Joe Lauzon and Mac Danzig featuring on what looks like being a quality undercard.

Let’s hope there’s not too many injury woes in the final months of the year as if everything goes according to plan the UFC is pulling out all the stops to ensure that that they end the year in style.
