Chad Mendes fight with Manny Gamburyan at UFC 157 was cancelled just 24hrs ago, but the former featherweight No.1 contender already has a new fight scheduled.
Mendes will now take on Clay Guida at ‘UFC On FOX 7’ on April 20th.
Mendes is currently looking to get back into the title picture at 145lbs after notching up two consecutive wins since losing out to current champion Jose Aldo at the beginning of last year, and certainly a win over Guida would go a long way towards making that happen.
Guida also has aspirations to fight for the title in the featherweight division having notched up a successful debut in the weight class at ‘UFC On FOX 6’ last month.
‘UFC On FOX 7’ will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between Ben Henderson and incoming Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez. While it’s not confirmed yet, Mendes Vs Guida is likely to take an undercard slot on the card.
