Chael Sonnen Hints There’s News About His Next Fight In The Pipeline

It’s fair to say the last few weeks has been something of a rollercoaster ride for Chael Sonnen.

First he announced he would be moving up to light-heavyweight to fight Forrest Griffin, then he started a war of words with Jon Jones before agreeing to be drafted in on just eight-days notice to fight him for the title, and then had it taken away from him when the champion turned down the bout.

It seems the twists and turns might not quite be over just yet though as Sonnen has hinted that there’s news in the pipeline about his next fight.

When asked about his originally scheduled bout with Griffin at UFC 155, Sonnen told MMAJunkie, “We’ll see. There’s going to be some news coming out on me soon. We’ll see how things play out. Stay tuned.”

It’ll be interesting to see what this turns out to be. The only thing I can think of is that now that Lyoto Machida is no longer considered by the UFC to be the No.1 contender due to his refusal to fight Jones at UFC 152 that perhaps the promotion are planning a fight between ‘The Dragon’ and Sonnen to establish the next title challenger.

It’s Sonnen we’re talking about here though, so it’s always best to expect the unexpected!
