Chase Sherman left it late to find a KO finish against Jared Vanderaa tonight at UFC On ESPN 39.
Round One:
Jab lands for Sherman as Vanderaa feels out with his. One-two from Sherman. Now a punch to the body.
Nice right hook gets through from Sherman. Glancing blow lands for Vanderaa. Leg kick from Sherman. Less impactful one from Vanderaa.
Inside leg kick for Sherman and one from Vanderaa. Nice jab for Sherman. Now a leg kick and another. leg kick for Vanderaa and eats a punch in return. Vanderaa goes to the head and Sherman lands two to the body.
left hook from Sherman. Jab lands too and Vanderaa glances with a left hand. Body punch for Sherman. Now a body kick.
Jab for Sherman and a couple in response from Vanderaa. Vanderaa to the body now. Inside leg kick from Vanderaa. jab for Sherman and one to the body.
Jab for Vanderaa. Low kick for Sherman. Body punch from him. Solid body kick from Sherman. Sherman steps and misses, leaving himself exposed for a moment for Vanderaa to land a short flurry.
Vanderaa with a kick. Body punch from Sherman. Sherman with a good connection. Body punch and one upstairs from Sherman.
Round Two:
Jab from Vanderaa. Now a low kick. He lands a light jab and another leg kick. Vanderaa with head movement to avoid a jab.
Jab lands for each. One-two gets through for Sherman. Vanderaa back to the jab. He lands it a couple of times nicely.
Sherman with his jab now. Vanderaa definitely has his range on the jab now and then lands a leg kick too. Another stinging jab from Vanderaa and Sherman lands too.
Body kick for Sherman. Hard right and left lands for Vanderaa. More jabs from Vanderaa and then Sherman bursts into a short flurry.
A couple of leg kicks for Sherman. Body kick from Vanderaa. One-two for Vanderaa. Jab for Sherman. Leg kick for him.
Heavy one-two for Sherman and then another punch behind it. A couple of jab and then a kick from Vanderaa. Another jab, but then there’s a good right hand from Sherman.
Jab and a clubbing right hand from Vanderaa. Jab for Sherman. Vanderaa moves away from the incoming Sherman. Vanderaa with blood to the left side of his head near the temple from a clash of heads now.
Jab from Vanderaa but Sherman lunges in with a couple of solid punches.
Round Three:
Hook and a right hand from Sherman. Vanderaa with a jab and a kick. One-two from Sherman and eats a punch in response.
Jab for Vanderaa as Sherman throws a couple of light leg kicks. Body-head combo from Sherman. Hard right hand over the top from Vanderaa.
Inside leg kick from Sherman as Vanderaa is out of range with punches. Heavy right hook from Vanderaa. Jabs from him too now. He lands a right and a left.
Solid right hand from Vanderaa. Sherman with a hard one-two. Another right over the top from Vanderaa. Body punch from him.
Both men landing solid punches now. Jab for Vanderaa. Glancing blows connect for him. Now a calf kick.
Right hand gets through from Sherman. Suddenly Vanderaa is dazed as another right hand lands and as he staggers forward Sherman pursues him with more rapid-fire punches. Vanderaa wilting fast here and backed up against the cage more blows land and sink him to the mat, handing Sherman a late KO victory at 3.10mins of the final round.
