Chris Weidman And Luke Rockhold Talk About Their Potential Title Fight

Following his impressive victory against Lyoto Machida on Saturday night at UFC On FOX 15, Luke Rockhold joined current middleweight champion Chris Weidman on the set of the post-fight show on FOX Sports 1 to talk up a potential fight between the two.

There was good natured banter between them for the most part, though when asked to describe how a fight between them would go, Rockhold responded, “I’ll knock ya, I’ll rock ya, I’ll choke ya,” while Weidman claimed that Rockhold, “doesn’t have an expertise and when we fight I’ll show him my expertise.”

So, it sounds like the two men are already up for this potential match-up, and indeed Weidman said that he’s been dreaming about fighting in New York at Madison Square Garden in December and he’s now visualizing Rockhold as his opponent.

There’s still a few obstacles in the way of this fight taking place though. For one thing, Weidman has to successfully defend his middleweight strap against Vitor Belfort next month, while there’s also the fact that Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza remains the current No.1 contender in the division after he also emerged victorious on Saturday night with an easy win over late replacement Chris Camozzi.

Having said that, there’s certainly more heat surrounding the idea of Weidman Vs Rockhold than Weidman Vs Jacare and it wouldn’t be the first time that the UFC has turned a blind eye to the rankings in favor of putting on a more marketable match-up.
