Conor McGregor And Floyd Mayweather Release Training Videos

Both Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have released new training videos that have everyone talking.

“You’ve never seen these moves. #Ghost,” McGregor declared on Instagram alongside his video.

However, Mayweather appeared to one-up him with an ultra-slick showing in his own footage, alongside a comment that read:

“I know I’m not the same fighter I was 20 years ago, I’m not the same fighter I was 10 years ago… As a matter of fact, I’m not the same fighter I was 5 years ago,I’m just an old legend putting in work in 16 oz gloves

Lot of people have been quick to comment on Mayweather’s quickness compared to McGregor, though if it isn’t already obvious, it should be pointed out that they are using two completely different pieces of equipment.

McGregor is mainly working on a wrecking ball, which is good for a number of things, including punching, footwork, head movement and angles, whereas the double-end bag Mayweather uses is specifically designed for speed, reflexes and timing, rather than anything relating to power.

The trick with the double-end bag is that once you figure out the timing and rhythm it becomes ingrained in your muscle memory and it becomes almost like second-nature to hit it, and you can hear that with the almost drum-like precision with which Mayweather is punching and breathing during that clip.

That’s not to take away from Mayweather’s obvious expertise here though and make no mistake, as arguably the best defensive boxer of all time, he’s going to make it exceptionally difficult for McGregor to land anything meaningful on the night.

However, don’t be fooled into thinking that comparing these two apples and oranges clips offers any real insight into how these two fighters are going to match up in the ring on August 26th.

For example, notice the sharp contrast in Mayweather’s work from just a few days earlier when he’s hitting the heavy bag.
