Corey Anderson has stepped in as a short-notice replacement for Ilir Latifi against Glover Teixeira at UFC Fight Night 134 on July 22nd in Hamburg, Germany.
Latifi pulled out due to an undisclosed injury, leaving Anderson to be drafted in with just two weeks to prepare for the fight, during which time he’ll have to fly over to Europe.
Anderson is coming in off a unanimous decision victory over Patrick Cummins back in April.
That snapped a two-fight losing streak that had saw the former TUF winner being knocked out by both Jimi Manuwa and Ovince Saint Preux.
Now Anderson faces another heavy hitter in Teixeira, and the Brazilian served up a reminder of his finishing power with a first round TKO stoppage victory against Misha Cirkunov in his last outing back in December.
Before that Teixiera had suffered a KO loss to Alexander Gustafsson however, and had been smiliarly stopped by knockout against Anthony Johnson the previous year, with a win over Jared Cannonier sandwiched inbetween times.
Anderson Vs Teixeira joins a UFC Fight Night 134 card that will also feature another 205lb match-up in the main event as Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua fights Anthony Smith, while Stefan Struve Vs Marcin Tybura is also on the line-up.
