Costa Philippou Pulls Out Of UFC On FX 8 Fight With Jacare Due To Injury

Just two weeks out from ‘UFC On FX 8’ the promotion needs to seek a new co-main event after Costa Philippou pulled out of his fight with Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza.

Philippou, who’s on an impressive five fight winning streak in the middleweight division was aiming to give former Strikeforce 185lb champion ‘Jacare’ a warm welcome to the UFC and place himself firmly in the title mix, but those plans have now been put on hold.

It’s likely that ‘Jacare’ will still make his debut on the card in Brazil, but there’s now a big question mark over who he’ll face.

Ideally someone like Michael Bisping would have been a a perfect choice here, but he only just fought last weekend and is now preparing for minor surgery to fix an ongoing neck issue that’ll keep him out of action for a few weeks.

Therefore a slightly less glamorous opponent may have to suffice, and the likes of Chris Camozzi (four fight winning streak) and Francis Carmont (five wins in a row) spring to mind, though both have just fought within the last month.

As things stand UFC On FX 8’s middleweight main event featuring Vitor Belfort Vs Luke Rockhold still remains intact though.
