After the UFC decided to move Rich Franklin to the UFC 147 card to face Wanderlei Silva, Cung Le will now face Patrick Cote instead at UFC 148 on July 7th.
Cote returns to the UFC roughly a year and half after he was released following a three-fight winning streak.
However, the former UFC middleweight No.1 contender has since gone on a four-fight unbeaten run outside of the promotion which has earned him the chance to prove himself once again on the sport’s biggest stage.
Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Le will also be looking to prove himself at the Las Vegas event after he lost to Wanderlei Silva in his debut by TKO last year.
The change in opponent doesn’t diminish the star power on show at UFC 148 too much given that it will still feature a potential ‘Fight Of The Year’ rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen, with the bantamweight interim title also on the line when Urijah Faber faces Renan Barao.
