A heavyweight fight between Curtis Blaydes and Chris Daukaus will headline UFC Fight Night 205 in Columbus, Ohio on March 26th.
Blaydes last outing saw him overcome Jairzinho Rozenstruik with a unanimous decision victory. That helped banish the bitter taste of defeat after being KO’d by Derrick Lewis earlier in 2021.
The Lewis loss was a tough one for Blaydes as he had been on the verge of title contention at the time following a four-fight winning streak, but he’s still ranked No.4 in the division so the 30-year-old still has a solid chance to build momentum in 2022 towards an eventual fight for the belt.
As for Daukaus, he can empathize with Blaydes as he was KO’d by Lewis in his last fight, which also snapped his perfect 4-0 start to his time in the UFC, having previously beaten the likes of Parker Porter, Rodrigo Nascimento, Alexey Oleinik and Shamil Abdurakhimov by either KO or TKO, taking him to No.7 in the rankings.
Blaydes vs. Daukaus fronts a UFC Fight Night 205 card that will also feature the likes of Matt Brown vs. Bryan Barberena, Neil Magny vs. Max Griffin and Michelle Waterson vs. Amanda Ribas and will be one of the UFC’s first ‘UFC FIght Night’ events back on the road since COVID led to the shows taking place in the UFC’s own APEX facility in Las Vegas for the past couple of years.
