A welterweight scrap between Dan Hardy and Matt Brown has been added to the ‘UFC On FOX 7’ event on April 20th.
Both men have enjoyed a reversal in their fortunes over the past year, with Hardy picking up two wins to cancel out a prior four fight losing streak, while Brown has impressed with four wins in 2012 that cast to one side a 1-4 spell prior to that.
This is a fight that makes a lot of sense – in fact it’s one that I suggested myself on this site after watching Brown defeat Mike Swick by KO at the last ‘UFC On FOX’ event in December.
Despite his impressive recent record I don’t see Brown putting together a title run, but he can always be relied upon to put on entertaining fights and in Hardy he’ll face someone who’ll be willing to mix it up with him on the feet and put on a show for the fans.
As such it’s the kind of fight that would make a perfect opener for the main card broadcast on FOX.
With a lightweight title fight between Ben Henderson and Gilbert Melendez already confirmed for the event alongside Daniel Cormier Vs Frank Mir, ‘UFC On FOX 7’ in San Jose is quickly shaping up to be a must-see free-tv event.
