Undefeated fighter Kayla Harrison is the current queen of the PFL organization, having won their 2019 tournament (pocketing a whopping grand-prize of $1 million in the process), so naturally with the 2021 tournament finalist potentially becoming a free agent in the near future there’s been talk of her joining the UFC next.
However, UFC President Dana White has thrown in a curveball by suggesting that Harrison would be better off staying with PFL rather than moving over to fight in the Octagon.
“If I was her, I’d stay right where she is and keep picking off the people over there,” White told TSN. “I would stay there and keep fighting the type of women she’s fighting there before I would come here and fight an Amanda Nunes. That’s for damn sure.”
The 31-year-old has since reacted to the news, shrugging off White’s suggestion while stating that she firmly believes she’s the best of the best.
“Thanks for the advice, Uncle Dana, I appreciate you,” Harrison told MMAjunkie. “My job is going to focus on Oct. 27. I really don’t care what other people have to say about me or my career, my choices or my options. I’m going to do what’s best for me, and that’s it.”
“That’s what he does,” Harrison continued. “That’s his job. I’m gonna talk about how I’m the greatest of all time, and he’s gonna talk about, ‘Well, calm down. No, you’re not.’ This is a game. This is a business. The difference is I really am gonna be the greatest of all time. He’s gonna see.”
Harrison fights Taylor Guardado in the lightweight finals of the PFL 2021 tournament tomorrow night with another $1 million cheque awaiting the winner.
