Dana White continues to insist that he has a “great” relationship with Conor McGregor despite their recent disagreement over the fighters promotional activities, which led to him being pulled from the blockbuster UFC 200 events main event recently.
Now it appears that the two parties are going to meet face-to-face as they look to establish when ‘The Notorious’ will make a return to the Octagon.
“He will not be on 200,” White said on ‘The Dan Patrick Show’. “We’re going to get together next week and see what card he’ll be fighting on.”
There had been a rumor that McGregor may rematch Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 122 in August, and White appeared to be open to that possibility.
“Sounds like a good idea to me,” White replied when asked about it.
That’s a slight change in his stance from when he originally pulled McGregor from UFC 200, with his intention at that stage being to scrap the Diaz rematch altogether, and instead make the Irish sensation defend his featherweight title instead.
White was also quizzed by Patrick about the other big McGregor rumor, that he was in talks to fight boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr.
“Conor McGregor is under contract with the UFC,” White stated. Listen, if Floyd wants to fight Conor, call me, Floyd.”
