Dana White Targets Anthony Pettis Vs TJ Grant For UFC On FOX 9

If Dana White gets his way then lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will get his first title defense against TJ Grant at UFC On FOX 9 in December.

Ariel Helwani indicated that was the fight the UFC president wanted to headline the UFC’s last FOX event of the year during yesterday’s episode of the ‘UFC Tonight’ show on FS1.

Pettis has already agreed to the proposed bout, but Grant is somewhat reluctant as he’s still recovering from a concussion that forced him out of his originally planned fight with Pettis last month.  Ideally he’d like to fight in January, but by the sounds of things if it’s what the UFC wants then he’ll accept it.

As we reported earlier, also on last night’s show it was confirmed that the co-main event for ‘UFC On FOX 9’ will be a bantamweight clash between Urijah Faber  and Michael McDonald.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
