Last week Dana White disappointed some fans when he overlooked a fight between rivals Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold in favor of putting the former Strikeforce champion up against Lyoto Machida, but a week later it appears he’s had a change of heart.
During an interview on FOX Sports 1 last night the UFC president answered a question about the fight from Bisping himself who was serving as an analyst, and suggested that he was now looking to put that fight together.
“I like that fight Mike, I like that fight,” White told Bisping. “I like the fight with you two, I know you do and I know he likes that fight too. It’s just a matter of getting it done now.”
White did add there was one outstanding issue that had to be resolved first though.
“I’m pretty sure we’ve got to get a new deal done with you first and then we’ll make that fight,” White told Bisping.
“Hey, I’m here, I’m going nowhere – let’s get that signed!” Bisping responded, with White chuckling as he replied, “Alright, let’s do it.”
Bisping and Rockhold have certainly stoked up plenty of interest in a fight between them after a back-and-forth war of words in which Rockhold recently boasted that the Brit couldn’t last a round with him, even going as far as to bet his pay cheque on it.
