Following last night’s Contender Series 31 event in Las Vegas, three more fighters were awarded UFC contracts.
That included flyweight co-main event winner Jimmy Flick, who left it until deep into the third round before he secured an arm-triangle choke finish against Nate Smith.
Flick, who was LFA’s flyweight champion, controlled the fight with Smith throughout and had him in danger through multiple submission attempts before he finally sealed the deal and booked his place in the UFC.
Ronnie Lawrence also joins the promotion after he upset the oddmakers by racking up a large amount of takedowns to earn a clean sweep (30-27 x3) on the scorecards against Jose Johnson.
The final fighter to win a spot in the UFC was William Knight, who made short work of Cody Brundage, overcoming initial adversity to hurt his opponent with elbows to the head as he was attempting a takedown and then landing ground and pound blows to seal a TKO stoppage midway through the round.
